Getting Started in Haskell

Here's some reading to help you start using Haskell:

A draft book chapter covering the examples in the introductory lecture.
Why Functional Programming Matters, a paper which introduces the philosophy of the course rather well, even if it is now over 10 years old!

You should probably start off using Hugs: here are some exercises related to the first lecture. Quite a good way to familiarise yourself with the syntax of Haskell is to work through The Little Haskeller, a tutorial for use with hbi.
